Social Service and Development

 

MISSION

  • Poverty alleviation and eradication by year 2010

  • Development of self-worth and self-reliance among our poor people

 

Developmental activities:

  1. Livelihood - Provides a venue for the indigent members of the community to develop skills which will bring livelihood activities and income.  Current programs: Rosary making, soap making, food service and catering.

  2. Education - Offers assistance to deserving but poor students in the community on all levels of education.  Funding is provided from CARITAS Manila, the social services arm of the Archdiocese of Manila.  The SSD Ministry conducts screening, verification of social status, background investigation and monitoring of parish involvement of these students.  Among the beneficiaries of the scholarship program, tutorials for lower level (elementary and high school) students are given tutorials by higher level students (college and vocational students).  For this coming school year, there are 50 scholars under the program.

  3. Health coordination - Attends to indigents visiting the parish for immediate food and crisis assistance (e.g. victims of calamities and disasters.

Currently the ministry obtains support from Caritas Manila for its scholarship program.  Its health development activities gets support from the parish while livelihood projects are sustained by self-generated income.  The Ministry welcomes donations for its various programs.
