Baptism |
|
Every Sunday at
11:15 AM with Mass
-
Registration
at least 2 weeks before
date of baptism.
-
Seminar
-
Sunday at 10:00 AM
(Ground floor, Roozen Hall), for parents and all the sponsors.
-
Requirements:
-
Submit photocopy
of child's birth certificate;
-
Present an
original copy of parent's Catholic Marriage Contract
-
Submit permit
from the parish church to have their baptism outside their own
parish (for non-parishioners)
-
Fee
(non-refundable) - 300.00 for the principal sponsors (first
pair) and the cost of baptismal candles and certificate;
100.00
for every additional sponsor (200.00 per pair)
Other Reminders:
-
Parents who want
their child baptized should be married in the Catholic church.
If parents want their child to grow in the Catholic faith,
then they should live this faith and follow the discipline of
the Catholic church. What faith are they imparting to
their child if they themselves are not married in the Catholic
church? Parishioners, who are married civilly or not
married at all should see the Parish Priest for an interview.
Non-parishioners who are married civilly or not married
at all are advised to have the baptism in their respective
parishes.
-
The celebration
of the Sacrament of Baptism is a communal celebration.
It is celebrated within the Holy Mass every Sunday at 11:15AM,
the day the church celebrates the Paschal Mystery. To
show the communitarian dimension of the sacrament, we do not
have individual baptism except for serious reasons (medical,
cases of emergency, security, etc.) Convenience is not a
serious reason. If you want your child to be a member of
our parish, then please allow the parish community to be
present and welcome your child when he/she is baptized.
Baptism then becomes more meaningful and more people will pray
for your child.
-
Picture taking
is allowed only during the actual baptismal rite. Please
refrain from taking pictures during the Holy Mass.
Picture taking however, is allowed after Holy Mass.
Please be reminded that there is another mass at 12:30 PM.
-
Proper church
decorum is strictly enforced. Ladies and gentlemen are
expected to dress properly and decently for church. For
ladies wearing dresses with plunging/revealing necklines,
backless attires, or short skirts and men wearing sandos and
shorts will not be allowed to enter the church.
-
Sponsors must be
Catholics who have received the sacraments of Christian
initiation: Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Eucharist. Most
importantly, sponsors must be willing to undertake the
responsibility of partnership with the parents in the
upbringing of the child into a mature and committed Christian.

Visiting the

DON BOSCO PUGAD Home for
Street Children and Migrant Youth |
|
St.
John Bosco parish truly lives out the charism of St. John Bosco
to assist the poor and abandoned youth. Starting out in
1994 as a home and drop-off center for street children, it has
evolved into a home for migrant youth as well. In October
2001, PUGAD (Pilipino word for "nest) was re-launched as a home
for street children and migrant youth.
Street children
taken into DON BOSCO PUGAD and who seek shelter from the harsh street
environment go through a process of rehabilitation and care with
the objective of bringing the children back to their perspective
families or moving them to other institutions.
Moreover, migrant
young men are also adopted into the center for a year or two
upon the recommendation of the different Salesian parishes all
over the country. These young men consists of poor but
deserving youth who take up vocational and technical courses
and are provided a home and other basic needs.
At DON BOSCO PUGAD, the boys
go through religious formation through talks by select Salesian
spiritual formation, Bible study and daily recitation of the
rosary among others. Livelihood and entrepreneurial skills
are learned as PUGAD operates its small businesses, such as its
bakery, water refilling station and small cafeteria.
Volunteers and social workers help out the Center Director in
the home's various activities. Through PUGAD, volunteers
participating in the various PUGAD activities have experienced
spiritual renewal as they see Christ in the poor young boys of
PUGAD.
