Dinner for Benefactors
As a way of expressing its gratitude
to regular benefactors, St. John Bosco parish hosts a traditional
thanksgiving dinner to its benefactors. The dinner usually is
preceded by a thanks giving mass at the church. This usually
coincides with the feast of St. John Bosco on January 31.
However, this year, the dinner was given a special touch considering
that the parish was celebrating its 30th or pearl anniversary.
Preparations needed for this year's special occasion consisted of
some chamber music rendition of songs by the parish chorale.
This year's dinner to benefactors was held at the parish garden last
February 6, 2007. |

Good
Friday 2007
The Veneration of the Cross
originated in Jerusalem where people gathered on Calvary to venerate
the Cross to which Jesus had been nailed and which, according to
tradition, had been miraculously recovered at the time of Emperor
Constantine. Eventually this devotion spread throughout the
Church as a natural response to the reading of the Passion.

candle, the symbol of the risen Christ who scatters the darkness of
sin, let us rekindle the light of our faith. Let us relive the
wonders of God's power and love as shown in the splendor of creation
and the history of salvation, and especially in the resurrection of
Jesus Christ, our Redeemer."

PPCRV - St.
John Bosco Parish involvement during the May 2007 Elections
"Last May 14, 2007, once again the St.
John Bosco Parish activated its parish volunteers to participate in
the Catholic Church's Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting
or PPCRV as in the past elections. This group consisting of
151 volunteers were assigned to the polling places - Barangay Pio
del Pilar - Dulo and Main and Barangay San Lorenzo - to offer voters
assistance, observe the proceeding of elections and stayed on into
the final counting which lasted overnight for some polling
precincts. The three precincts are voting places for an
aggregate of 30,487 resident voters. The parish likewise was
able to gather up support from other sectors of the community to
help out in the food and other expense provisions of our volunteers
in support of the parish initiative during the elections deemed a
critical time in our country.
With the absence of any untoward
incidents or any we may say that St. John Bosco parish has achieved
the Vision set out by PPCRV for its volunteers and the country - to
promote an enlightened voting citizenry as an accredited "citizen's
arm" of the Commission of Elections.

Grand Alay - May 26, 2007
The St. John Bosco Parish's devotion
to our Blessed Virgin Mary is expressed through the daily floral
offerings during the month of May. All mass goers during the
daily 6PM Mass are enjoined to offer flowers by the foot of our
Lady's statue.
This daily devotional practice
culminates in the Grand Alay. This year's Grand Alay which was
held last May 26, 2007 came after the Saturday anticipated Mass.
This was marked by the offering of flower-decorated frames or "Almazons"
depicting the Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary by "Floristas", a
group of girls and young ladies. After the floral offerings,
little girls dressed up as angels sang the Litany of the Blessed
Virgin Mary. Then Fr. Manny and Fr. Javy gave the blessing of
Mary Help of Christians to all. The flower offerings saw the
St. John Bosco Chruch altar decorated with a wonderful array of
flowers which lit up the whole church.

Celebration of Cardinal Rosales' 75th Birthday
As part of the parish
celebration of Cardinal Rosales' birthday, Fr. Manny Domingo, our
parish priest, went to conduct feeding for 27 pre-school pupils of
the Don Bosco Learning Center located at Taylo St. in Makati.
These nursery and kindergarten pupils are mostly from the poor
areas of the parish community. Fr. Manny later visited three
sick persons and a dead. The sick persons were given the
sacrament for the sick, confession and holy communion. This
ministry has been a part of the parish commitment to care for the
sick, the elderly and the differently-abled through a regular
Thursday visitation and the transport of these people to the
